On some level, the lack of racial diversity in Hollywood in general and the Academy Awards specifically, is so trivial, so irrelevant and unimportant to the daily lives of Black people and other people of color as to be barely worth the mention.

However, if you don't control your images, someone else will and when they decide what they will celebrate, what merits acclaim and recognition, if you aren't under consideration you won't be considered at all. I'm glad to see Black Hollywood FINALLY take a stand on something even if it is only their self-interest. Nothing ever changes waiting for those doing you wrong to stop wrongdoing on their own initiative.

Sometimes you have to grab 'em somewhere difficult to ignore you any longer. Good work, Sista Sherri.
